I’m almost posting consistently once a week (almost) and thinking I might even graduate to posting twice a week. I know in the 24 hr news cycle, that’s not really much, but it’s a big deal for me because this time last year, I was posting maybe once a month at best. The hardest part about posting is the overwhelming feeling that I have to write a comprehensive treatise with a thesis, citations, countering opinions, a proper conclusion—basically a full-fledged, academic essay. The time it takes me to write a post is usually 5 to 6 hours—I once wrote a blog post in 2 or 3 hours. I was so proud of myself.

Of course, I don’t have to put that much research and time into a blog post: many other bloggers spit out several shells of a post multiple times a week, if not per day. But I prefer substance to volume. Given the length of time it takes me to put together what I feel is a worthwhile post, I end up putting it aside

To avoid that, I want to start planning and outlining blog posts going into the new year. I have made a poll to get a better sense of what topics you readers would like me to write about. I will always have “filler” posts, the kind that are mostly just reblogging another interesting article, but I would like to have more substantive pieces that people find interesting and useful.

The poll is multiple choice, and you can even add your own topic choice. If you wish to elaborate, please do so in the comments. Thanks, and happy new year!
